Remember that you have to pay toll using the motorways in Switzerland, Austria and Italy.
For Switzerland you need a motorway vignette that is available at the border or at petrol stations. It is valid for a whole year.
Austria also has a system of vignettes that are valid for different lengths of time.
In Italy you pay cash at toll stations for the individual motorways you have used.

By Plane

Travelling to Elba by plane is certainly the most convenient way.

Check your local airlines for flights to Pisa.
From Pisa the journey is continued by train and ferry. The train connection from Pisa to Piombino Marittima (Piombino harbour) takes approx. 2 hours and costs around €6,-- per person.
